| Obverse description | The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Gabonese Republic in high relief at center, featuring a quartered escutcheon supported by two confronted black panthers rampant, the shield bearing a ship in full sail on the lower quarter and three roundels above, surmounted by a fruiting okoumé tree. The legend RÉPUBLIQUE GABONAISE arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 2025 inscribed below it above the arms. Padparadscha is among the rarest corundum varieties — a pink-orange sapphire found almost exclusively in Sri Lanka's Elahera and Ratnapura regions, with occasional material from Madagascar and Tanzania. Demand from collectors of gem-set bullion has pushed mints toward increasingly small gold formats, and the Bank of Central African States has leaned into that market aggressively in recent years with themed deluxe issues targeting European and Asian secondary markets rather than domestic circulation.
