The BEAC serves six member states of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and the Republic of the Congo — all of which share the CFA franc pegged to the euro at a fixed rate inherited from its original peg to the French franc in 1945. Collector issues denominated in CFA francs are a relatively recent commercial phenomenon, produced largely for the numismatic export market rather than any domestic circulation purpose.
The Moirai — the three Fates of Greek mythology — are an unusual thematic choice for a Central African issuing authority, reflecting the current market for mythologically themed bullion-adjacent silver rounds dressed in sovereign denomination.
