These commemorative strikes are produced entirely for the export collector market; they do not circulate in member states and are typically struck by European minting contractors on behalf of the issuing authority.
The Mayflower's 1620 crossing has generated commemorative coinage across dozens of issuing authorities with no geographic connection to the voyage, a practice that accelerated sharply in the 2000s as minor issuing bodies discovered the collector premium attached to Anglo-American historical subjects.
