Obverse description	Central device depicts a seated allegorical female figure, draped and wearing a turban, facing slightly right, holding upright stone tablets inscribed with the national motto UNITE / TRAVAIL / PROGRES. The legend REPUBLIQUE DU CONGO curves along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1000 FRANCS is inscribed along the lower periphery. The field is mirror-polished in proof finish, providing strong contrast against the frosted relief of the central design.

Reverse description	The reverse features a full-length portrait of Captain James Cook standing to the left in 18th-century naval attire, holding a navigational sextant to his eye. ENDEAVOUR curves along the upper periphery, and the date 2003 appears in the exergue. The design is executed in high-relief frosted proof finish against a mirror field.
