Additional information

The Republic of the Congo — not to be confused with the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo — issued a series of high-relief silver pieces in the early 2000s largely aimed at the collector export market, a common revenue strategy among franc CFA member states with limited domestic numismatic demand. These were not intended for circulation. KM#67 sits in a run of issues from this period that were struck by contracted European mints on behalf of the Congolese government, with distribution handled almost entirely outside the country.
