Additional information

The Fokker 100 was the Dutch manufacturer's last serious attempt at commercial aviation survival — a stretched, re-engined development of the Fokker F28 that entered service in 1988. It found genuine success with regional carriers before Fokker's 1996 bankruptcy, one of the most abrupt collapses in postwar European aerospace, left some 300 aircraft stranded mid-order. Benin had no operational connection to the aircraft.

This belongs to the wave of silver issues produced under Benin's nominally sovereign coinage program but marketed entirely to European collectors through intermediary dealers, with the CFA franc denomination a formality.
