Additional information

The Republic of the Congo — not to be confused with the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo — issued a series of silver fauna-themed pieces in the 1990s squarely aimed at the collector market rather than circulation. The country had no meaningful domestic numismatic infrastructure at the time; these were produced under contract by foreign mints and distributed through European and North American coin dealers.

KM#41 corresponds to a type struck to exact one-troy-ounce specifications, which tells you precisely who the buyer was.
