Obverse description	The national arms of the Republic of Benin are depicted in high relief at the center of the rectangular field, featuring a quartered shield supported by two leopards rampant, surmounted by a star and a buffalo head atop a helm. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto FRATERNITE JUSTICE TRAVAIL. The legend REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN arcs along the upper border, while the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA appears in bold raised lettering along the lower border. The date 1999 is divided across both sides of the arms, with 19 to the left and 99 to the right.
