| Obverse description | The Gabonese coat of arms occupies the centre of the field, depicting a shield supported by two black panthers, with a sailing ship in the lower compartment and three black roundels in the upper compartment, surmounted by an olive branch. The legend RÉPUBLIQUE GABONAISE arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 2025 positioned immediately below it above the arms. The denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is inscribed in bold lettering along the lower periphery. The national motto UNION TRAVAIL JUSTICE appears on a scroll at the base of the shield. |

Part of a long-running series of Chinese Panda-themed issues struck for various African CFA franc nations — Gabon, Cameroon, Chad, and others — these coins are produced by the Bavarian State Mint in Munich under license and are primarily sold into the collector and bullion gift market in China. The "2017" in the name denotes the panda design year, not the strike year. At 0.311 g fine gold, the actual gold content is exactly one one-hundredth of a troy ounce.
