| Additional information |
Burkina Faso has no mint of its own — these issues are struck under contract by European private mints, primarily in Germany and Poland, and sold directly into the collector market without ever entering circulation in the issuing country. The CFA franc itself is managed by the Banque Centrale des États de l'Afrique de l'Ouest, which has no role in authorizing these pieces; the legal tender status is nominal, conferred by government decree for licensing fees rather than any monetary function.
KM#65 is part of a broader wave of African wildlife colorized issues that flooded the numismatic market through the 2010s.
