Obverse description The national coat of arms of Benin occupies the upper portion of the oval field, featuring two leopards flanking a shield charged with a castle and palm tree, with the motto ribbon below. The denomination '1000 FRANCS CFA' is inscribed in the field beneath the arms. In the lower portion, an inset circular coloured insert depicts a full-rigged tall ship — the HMS Bounty — rendered in polychrome colour against a blue sea and sky. The circular legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN' arcs along the upper rim, with 'FRATERNITE JUSTICE TRAVAIL' appearing on the motto ribbon of the coat of arms.

Reverse description The reverse features an engraved depiction of the tall ship HMS Bounty under full sail, rendered in fine detail with masts, rigging, and billowing sails prominent against a lightly textured field suggestive of open sea. A circular coloured insert at the lower centre presents a polychrome image of the same vessel sailing on calm blue waters, providing a vivid contrast to the surrounding antique silver finish. The legend 'BOUNTY' is inscribed along the upper left field, and the year of issue '2013' appears at the bottom of the oval.

Additional information

The BCEAO issues commemorative silver under the "Bounty" and related novelty programs primarily for the collector export market — these coins are legal tender in the eight-member FRANC zone states but were never intended for circulation. The series is contracted through European minting intermediaries, a common arrangement for small francophone issuers whose own infrastructure doesn't support collector-grade silver production.

Mintage figures for these issues are rarely published with precision.
