Additional information

Burkina Faso has no meaningful numismatic tradition of its own — this piece was produced entirely for the collector market, issued under a licensing arrangement that allows small African nations with CFA franc denominations to serve as nominal issuers for coins they will never circulate. The actual production almost certainly ran through a European private mint. The American Silver Eagle design used here is itself federally protected imagery, and its appearance on a foreign-denominated coin is a recurring source of controversy between private mint operators and the U.S. Mint.

The gilding and colorization are post-strike applications, not part of the original minting process.
