| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Benin occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported by two leopards rampant, surmounted by a buffalo head with prominent horns. The quarters of the shield contain traditional symbols including palm trees and a fortress. A scroll below the shield bears the national motto FRATERNITE JUSTICE TRAVAIL. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is inscribed in the lower field. |
