Obverse description Central to the obverse is a finely rendered bust of an African woman depicted in three-quarter view, her hand raised thoughtfully to her chin, adorned with elaborately braided hair styled in tight cornrows. The figure occupies the majority of the field, rendered in high relief consistent with proof coinage. The circular legend at top reads REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD, with the national motto •UNITÉ•TRAVAIL•PROGRÈS• arching below it along the inner border. The denomination 1000 FRANCS is inscribed in large lettering along the lower portion of the coin.

Reverse description The reverse features a detailed naturalistic composition depicting two Black Crowned Cranes (Balearica pavonina) set against a background of marsh vegetation including reeds and aquatic plants. In the left foreground, a large close-up portrait of the bird's distinctive head with its prominent fan-shaped golden crest is rendered in high relief, while a full-bodied crane stands to the right in profile amid the wetland flora. The upper legend reads FAUNE AFRICAINE, and the scientific name BALEARICA PAVONINA arcs along the lower border, with the date 2001 inscribed in the lower central field.
