| Obverse description | The right field carries an intaglio portrait of a West African woman in traditional head-wrap and earrings, while the central vignette presents an open-cast mining scene with large dragline excavators set against a mountainous landscape. To the left stands a carved wooden figurine, and the border is composed of repeating spiral guilloche motifs in brown and ochre tones; two signature panels below the central vignette bear the titles LE GOUVERNEUR and LE PRESIDENT DU CONSEIL DES MINISTRES. |

The BCEAO's 1000 Franc series ran across nearly a decade and accumulated an unusually large number of signature combinations — eleven in total for this type alone. Abdoulaye Fadiga served as Governor of the BCEAO from 1975 to 1988, which accounts for his presence across the majority of pairings. Alassane Ouattara, who signed the final combinations here as Governor before departing for the IMF, would later become President of Côte d'Ivoire.
The suffix letter K in the Pick reference identifies the specific signature variant within the broader series, making precise attribution to a signing period essential for accurate cataloging.
