Obverse description Intaglio portrait of King Albert I at left, rendered in fine engraving by Guillaume Minguet after a design by Louis Buisseret, set against a blue guilloche underprint. The large denomination numeral "1000" appears at upper right, with the bilingual bank title "BANQUE NATIONALE DE BELGIQUE" above the central text "MILLE FRANCS" in bold letterpress.
