| Additional information |
Masie Nguema Biyogo was the birth name of Francisco Macías Nguema, the dictator who ruled Equatorial Guinea from independence in 1968 until his overthrow and execution in 1979. His regime is considered one of the most brutal in post-colonial African history — an estimated third of the population fled or was killed. This trial strike, produced in the year before the coup that ended his rule, was never released into circulation. Pattern and essai pieces from his administration are scarce simply because the institutions nominally responsible for producing them barely functioned.
