Obverse description Central field displays the coat of arms of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, depicting a spread eagle with wings outstretched, bearing a shield on its breast charged with a traditional Armenian dwelling, all within a radiant sunburst. The arms are encircled by a legend in Armenian script reading the name of the republic and 'Artsakh', flanked at the top of the field by two olive or laurel branches. The date '2004' appears at the top of the field above the branches, the denomination '1000' appears below the arms, and the legend in Armenian script 'ՀԱՅԱՍՏԱՆԻ ԴՐԱՄ' (Armenian Dram) is inscribed along the lower rim. A small '999' fineness mark appears to the right of the arms.
