| Obverse description | Central field depicts a detailed relief view of the Kokh fortress ruins set against a mountainous landscape, rendered with colorized selective application highlighting the natural surroundings. The composition is framed by an ornate border of traditional Armenian interlaced knot-work decoration encircling the entire coin. The Armenian-script legend ՀԱՅԱՍՏԱՆԻ ՀԱՆՐԱՊԵՏՈՒԹՅՈՒՆ and the denomination 1000 ԴՐԱՄ arc along the upper portion of the border, while REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA and 1000 DRAM appear along the right and lower border in Latin script.
