The Armenian Theatre in Tbilisi — formally the Petros Adamyan State Armenian Drama Theatre — has operated continuously since 1863, making it one of the oldest functioning Armenian cultural institutions outside Armenia proper. Its survival through Tsarist Russification campaigns, Soviet cultural policy shifts, and post-Soviet Georgian-Armenian political tensions is a story of institutional stubbornness rarely matched in the South Caucasus. Armenia's commemorative silver program has increasingly focused on diaspora cultural anchors, and this issue fits that pattern precisely.
