A bilingual Arabic and Latin legend surrounds the central device, with the date 2005 inscribed below the emblem. Issued to honor Fatima bint Mubarak, the wife of UAE founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and mother of the current ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, this piece was struck the year Zayed himself died — August 2005 — giving it an unintended commemorative weight beyond its stated purpose. The "Mother of the Nation" title was formally conferred on Fatima bint Mubarak by federal decree, a rare official designation in Gulf monarchies where such honorifics are not casually granted.
At 40 grams of 22-karat gold, production was almost certainly limited, though the UAE Central Bank has historically been opaque about exact mintage figures for its prestige issues.
