Comments

The phrase "Valor Recebido" — value received — printed on this note was a legal formula carried over from earlier Brazilian treasury instruments, distinguishing notes issued against actual deposit or obligation from purely fiduciary emissions. By the 1950s it was largely ceremonial language, but its presence here marks this as the first printing of the P#156 series, before the text was dropped in subsequent runs.

Five signature combinations span the full series, reflecting the rapid ministerial turnover of the Finance Ministry across three presidencies: Vargas, Café Filho, and Kubitschek. Eugênio Gudin's tenure alone lasted only a few months in 1954–55. The catalog error affecting the Claudionor/Lucas Lopes pairing — truncating the series at 1000 rather than the correct 1080 — has caused persistent misattribution of notes in that range.
