| Obverse description | Dark intaglio print on multicolour guilloche underprint. An intaglio portrait vignette of General Augusto César Sandino in his characteristic wide-brimmed hat is positioned at right, with his name inscribed below. The large denomination numeral '1000' appears in intaglio at centre, above the inscription 'UN MIL CORDOBAS' on a dark banner, flanked by ornate guilloche cornerpieces bearing the numeral '1000' at all four corners.
