Obverse description The central field features the Polish state eagle — an uncrowned spread-winged eagle facing right — set within a raised inner circle. Surrounding this central motif is a broad decorative border composed of fourteen oval and shield-shaped cartouches, each containing stylised heraldic emblems of historic Polish cities and regions, referencing the millennium of the Polish state. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA arcs around the upper portion of the inner ring, with the date 1960 appearing at the base, all separated by raised dots. The overall design, engraved by Józef Gosławski, is bold and richly detailed in a mid-20th-century Socialist Realist numismatic style.
