Obverse description Central field features the crowned Polish eagle of the People's Republic of Poland, displayed with wings spread and head turned to the right, rendered in high relief against a polished background. The date 1980 is divided across the lower field, flanking the eagle's talons, with '19' to the left and '80' to the right. The denomination '100' is prominently inscribed in large numerals along the lower portion of the field, flanked by the abbreviations 'ZŁ' on each side. The circular legend 'POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA' arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script. The design was engraved by Stanisława Wątróbska-Frindt.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a stylized silhouette of a running athlete in the left foreground, rendered in bold relief, striding across horizontal lines suggestive of a track. Behind the figure, a large circular globe motif occupies the central and right portions of the field, upon which the five interlocked Olympic rings are superimposed to the upper right. The legend 'IGRZYSKA XXII OLIMPIADY' arcs around the upper periphery in Latin script, with a small dot at the lower centre serving as a stop. The word 'PRÓBA' (trial) appears vertically along the left inner field, identifying this piece as a pattern strike. The design was engraved by Ewa Olszewska-Borys.
