| Obverse description | The obverse features the Polish state eagle with spread wings at left center, set against a detailed architectural background depicting the Presidential Palace in Warsaw on the left and the Wawel Cathedral tower on the right, rendered in fine engraved relief. The denomination '100 ZŁ' appears below the eagle in the field. The curved Latin legend 'CORPORA DORMIUNT · VIGILANT ANIMAE' arcs around the upper periphery, with 'RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA' and the date '2020' completing the inscription, along with the mint mark 'mw'. |

| Additional information |
On April 10, 2010, a Polish Air Force Tu-154 crashed near Smolensk, Russia, killing all 96 aboard — including President Lech Kaczyński, his wife, and a significant portion of Poland's military and civilian leadership traveling to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Katyń massacre. The political weight of that coincidence — Poles dying near Katyń again, this time on a remembrance mission — made the event immediately contested in Polish public life, and it has remained so ever since.
The tenth-anniversary issue was produced by Mennica Polska under a face value authorized by Narodowy Bank Polski. Given the ongoing political sensitivity surrounding the crash investigation, the coin's release was itself a minor flashpoint.
