Obverse description Central vignette at left shows Beihai Park with the Island of the White Pagoda, Beijing, while the Corner Tower of the Forbidden City, Beijing appears at right. Yellow underprint covers the note field. Denomination and issuing bank name are rendered in Chinese characters, with the Republican calendar year indicated in the lower margin.

(Translation: People's Bank of China One Hundred Yuan Year 38 of the Chinese Republic)
Reverse description Intricate guilloche lacework fills the entire reverse, with a large numeral '100' centrally positioned within a floral medallion framework. Rosette guilloche roundels appear at the four corners, and the bank name in Chinese characters is inscribed across the top center. The date '1949' appears in the lower center, all printed in a deep purple-brown tone over the ornate geometric background.
