Obverse description The obverse presents a finely executed proof rendering of the Hall of Supreme Harmony (Taihedian), the principal ceremonial throne hall of the Forbidden City, Beijing, depicted in deeply frosted relief against a mirror-polished field. The imposing imperial structure is shown frontally, its double-eaved hip roof sweeping dramatically above ornately bracketed eaves, with the broad three-tiered marble terrace and balustrades rendered in precise architectural detail. The national legend 中华人民共和国 arcs in raised Chinese characters across the upper field. The date 1993 is inscribed in Arabic numerals in the lower exergue.
