The Nenjiang Provincial Bank was one of several short-lived Communist-administered regional banks established in Manchuria following the Soviet entry and Japanese collapse in August 1945. Nenjiang Province itself was a brief administrative creation — it existed as a distinct entity for only a few years before being absorbed into larger reorganizations of the Northeast China region in the late 1940s. Notes from this bank reflect that institutional impermanence.
The "R" suffix in the Pick reference denotes a remainder — unissued stock, never signed or dated for release. That designation matters here: fully issued, circulated examples are considerably rarer than the remainders, which survived in larger numbers precisely because they never left the vault.
