| Obverse description | Central field features a front-facing depiction of the Temple of Heaven (天坛) set against a plain polished background, rendered in high relief. A giant panda is depicted seated at the base of the temple steps in the lower foreground, a motif characteristic of Chinese commemorative gold coinage. The date 2006 appears in the lower field beneath the central design. The encircling legend reads 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) along the upper border, with the commemorative inscription 中国民生银行成立十周年纪念 (Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of China Minsheng Banking Corp.) along the lower border. |

| Additional information |
China Minsheng Banking Corporation, founded in 1996, was the first Chinese bank established primarily with private capital rather than state funding — a deliberate experiment by Beijing in limited financial liberalization. This 2006 commemorative marks its tenth year, issued at a moment when Minsheng was aggressively expanding retail and SME lending in ways that made regulators intermittently nervous.
The .999 gold used here follows the purity standard the People's Bank adopted for its commemorative bullion program in the 1980s, distinct from the lower fineness used in many contemporary Western issues.
