| Obverse description | Two full-length fencers depicted in dynamic combat stance occupy the central field, their foils crossed mid-engagement above a ground line. The Kanji legend 日本国 (State of Japan) is distributed around the upper periphery, with the characters flanking the figures at left and right and above. The denomination 百円 (100 Yen) appears in two Kanji characters along the lower portion of the field, divided by the fencers' feet. The composition conveys athletic movement in a clean, modern engraving style consistent with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic commemorative series. |
