To mark the signing of Slovenia’s agreement on full membership of the European Union in Athens in April 2003, the Bank of Slovenia issued banknotes for 10,000 tolars, 1,000 tolars and 100 tolars that have a special gold feature on the left side of the portrait: “2004” written vertically, with the final numeral being transformed over five stages into a five-pointed star. The hand engraved portrait of the impressionist painter Rihard Jakopič is the main motif on the front of the banknote. The profile silhouette filled up with microwriting completes the image. In the middle of the left hand area of the banknote a painting palette and two paintbrushes are depicted. The watermark bears the face of Rihard Jakopič.
Reverse description
On the back a detail from Jakopic´s painting `The Sun` is represented, and the plan of the former Jakopic Pavilion in Ljubljana is printed by the intaglio method.
