Obverse description At center, the national arms of Mongolia — the soyombo symbol within a circular gear-and-wreath border — displayed in high relief against a polished field. The denomination 100 appears in large numerals below the arms. The legend MONGOLIA arcs along the upper rim in Latin script, while the Mongolian script inscription reading Monggol Ulus and the denomination in Tögrög runs vertically along the right side in traditional script.

Reverse description A naturalistically rendered monkey is depicted in profile, seated upon a raised platform or plinth, facing left, with its tail curling beneath it. The design is executed in fine relief against a mirror-polished field. The curved legend YEAR OF THE MONKEY arcs around the upper portion of the design, and the date 1992 appears in the lower exergue, both in Latin script.
