Reverse description A detailed high-relief depiction of the Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre) of Rome occupies the majority of the field, rendered in three-quarter aerial perspective to showcase its elliptical tiered arcaded exterior and the exposed interior arena floor. A stylised globe logo appears to the upper left of the structure. The legend 'COLOSSEUM' is inscribed in spaced capitals along the upper rim, with the Italian subtitle 'Colosseo' beneath it in smaller lettering. The date '2008' is incused at the lower right, adjacent to the building's façade, with small trees depicted in the foreground exergue area.

Additional information

Mongolia's numismatic program in the 2000s leaned heavily into foreign landmark themes, producing silver-plated copper issues aimed squarely at the collector market rather than circulation. The Colosseum piece sits in a crowded field of similar souvenir-grade issues from this period, with KM#306.1 distinguishing it from at least one die variant recorded in the series.
