| Reverse description | The reverse centres on a circular medallion containing the Bukharan state coat of arms — a shield surmounted by a crescent and flanked by foliate scrollwork — set against a dense basket-weave guilloche underprint in olive-green. Crescent-and-star cartouches appear in the upper corners, while the Hijri date and a handwritten signature appear in a panel at the foot. |

The Emirate of Bukhara's paper currency was a late and somewhat desperate adoption — the emirate had long relied on silver tangas and only turned to paper notes under pressure from wartime economic collapse and the disruption of metal supplies during the Russian Civil War period. This 100 Tengas note dates from 1920, the same year the Red Army overthrew Emir Alim Khan, who fled to Afghanistan in September. Notes issued that year exist in a strange liminal space: printed under a government that effectively ceased to exist within months of their issue.
The Bukharan People's Soviet Republic that followed issued its own currency almost immediately, rendering these emirate notes obsolete within their first year.
