| Obverse description | Central field features the coat of arms of Somalia, depicting a shield bearing a central five-pointed star, supported on either side by rampant leopards, surmounted by a coronet, and resting on a decorative base. The Socotra archipelago, though legally Yemeni territory, has been administered by the UAE since 2018 following a military deployment that Sana'a called an occupation. This coin predates that seizure, issued amid the broader collapse of Yemeni state authority during the civil war that erupted in 2015. Whether it saw any meaningful circulation on the islands — where the local economy runs largely on barter and aid — is doubtful.
