Obverse description Central field features the coat of arms of Somalia, depicting a shield bearing a central five-pointed star, supported on either side by rampant leopards, surmounted by a coronet, and resting on a decorative base. Six small five-pointed stars are distributed symmetrically around the coat of arms in the field. The curved legend 'SOCOTRA ISLAND' arcs across the upper portion of the coin. The denomination '100' appears prominently at the bottom center, flanked by the inscriptions 'SHILLINGS' to the left and 'SCELLINI' to the right.

Additional information

The Socotra archipelago, though legally Yemeni territory, has been administered by the UAE since 2018 following a military deployment that Sana'a called an occupation. This coin predates that seizure, issued amid the broader collapse of Yemeni state authority during the civil war that erupted in 2015. Whether it saw any meaningful circulation on the islands — where the local economy runs largely on barter and aid — is doubtful.
