Obverse description	The obverse features the Somali national coat of arms at center, depicting a shield supported by two leopards rampant, with a five-pointed star in the field of the shield and decorative scrollwork below. The legend SOMALI REPUBLIC arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin letters, while the denomination 100 SHILLINGS is inscribed along the lower rim. The date is divided on either side of the arms, reading 20 to the left and 22 to the right. The entire design is surrounded by a beaded border.

Reverse description	The reverse presents a finely detailed naturalistic scene depicting a full-bodied adult African elephant walking in profile to the left, accompanied by a young calf sheltering beneath her in the foreground, both rendered against a savannah landscape with grasses at ground level. A large full moon occupies the upper right of the field, and three birds in flight are visible against the open sky.
