| Obverse description | The Tanzanian coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting an oval shield supported by a male figure to the left and a female figure to the right, both rendered in high relief. The shield is quartered with a burning torch at its apex, crossed spear and axe in the center, and wavy lines in the base representing the sea. A scroll below the supporters bears the national motto in two parts, reading UHURU NA UMOJA.
