By 1985, Israel's monetary system was in freefall — annual inflation had exceeded 450%, and the sheqel was being devalued faster than the Knesset could legislate responses. The 100 Sheqalim denomination existed because smaller values had become functionally worthless, not as a deliberate policy choice. The New Sheqel reform arrived the following year, rendering this entire series obsolete almost immediately after issue.
Jabotinsky himself died in New York in 1940, exiled from Mandatory Palestine by British authorities who had banned him from re-entering the territory in 1930. His remains were not interred in Israel until 1964, per explicit instructions left in his will requesting reburial only after statehood.
