Obverse description The Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, is depicted in high relief at the center of the field, showing three lions sejant addorsed atop an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra wheel flanked by a bull and horse in low relief. The national motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, 'Truth Alone Triumphs') appears in Devanagari script immediately below the capital. The country name 'भारत' in Devanagari curves along the upper left and 'INDIA' in Latin script along the upper right, while the denomination '100' in large numerals occupies the lower center field, flanked by 'रूपये' to the left and 'RUPEES' to the right in a bold, raised lettering style.
