Obverse description At right, an intaglio portrait of Mahatma Gandhi faces left against a fine guilloche underprint in shades of blue, green, and ochre; the large numeral '100' in ornate letterpress appears at centre-left, flanked by the Ashoka Pillar emblem at lower left. The Reserve Bank of India seal is printed to the lower right of the portrait, with the promise clause in both Hindi and English across the lower centre, and the issuer's title in Devanagari and English along the top margin.
