| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in shades of orange and brown, with a large circular watermark window at left centre. To the right, an ornate vignette drawn from classical Sinhalese stone sculpture presents a moonstone-style scroll relief with a guardian lion figure on a decorative column. The bank title appears in Sinhala, Tamil, and English across the top, with the denomination in Sinhala and Tamil in large lettering at centre, and a lower border frieze of horses in guilloche underprint. The date and serial number are printed in black at lower left and upper right respectively. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents an aerial perspective vignette of the Parliament Building at Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, rendered in fine intaglio line work in orange and brick-red tones against a lightly tinted background. The complex is shown surrounded by landscaped grounds and water, with the building's distinctive low-rise modernist architecture clearly delineated. The institution name in Sinhala, Tamil, and English appears at top, with the building name in all three scripts below the vignette and the denomination repeated at bottom in Sinhala, Tamil, and English. |

Bradbury Wilkinson closed permanently in 1990, making this series one of the last issues the firm ever produced for Sri Lanka — or for anyone. The New Malden operation wound down that year when the company was absorbed and effectively dissolved, ending over a century of security printing work. Notes from the later dates in this 1987–1990 window were among the final sheets to come off those presses.
Watermark-only security reflects the period before Sri Lanka moved to more sophisticated intaglio and thread-embedded specifications in subsequent issues.
