| Obverse description | The national arms of Nepal centered within a decorative geometric frame, depicting the peak of Mount Everest above a stylized map of the country, flanked by Devanagari syllabic elements at the four cardinal points of the frame. The legend 'नेपाल' (Nepal) appears in Devanagari script above the shield, with 'NEPAL' inscribed in Latin characters below the central motif. The Bikram Sambat date '२०७४' (2074) is inscribed at the base of the shield, and the entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |

Tri-Chandra College, established in Kathmandu in 1918, was the first institution of higher education in Nepal — founded under Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shamsher, whose name it bears alongside his two brothers. For decades it operated as the country's sole degree-granting body, a monopoly that reflected how deliberately the Rana oligarchy controlled access to education as a tool of political stability.
