Obverse description Intricate engraved design on white paper with elaborate guilloche borders and corner numerals reading "100" and "ONE HUNDRED". At centre, the bank's title "THE ORIENTAL BANK CORPORATION INCORPORATED BY ROYAL CHARTER" arches above the Royal Arms vignette, with inscriptions in Sinhalese and Tamil flanking the serial number range. Left vignette shows a seated classical female figure with lions, and a standing classical youth with a caduceus appears in the right vignette. The promise-to-pay clause is printed in manuscript-style letterpress, dated Colombo 1884, with the printer's imprint "B.W.& Co. LONDON" at foot.
