Obverse description At centre, the official emblem of the Bank of Russia — a double-headed eagle with wings lowered — is rendered in high relief within a beaded circle. The curved legend БАНК РОССИИ (BANK OF RUSSIA) appears beneath the eagle in the inner field. Along the outer rim, the denomination СТО РУБЛЕЙ (ONE HUNDRED ROUBLES) arcs across the top. Below, separated by the beaded border, the fineness designation Au 900, the year of issue 2009 г., the fine metal content 15.55, and the Saint Petersburg Mint mark СПМД are distributed symmetrically around the lower rim.

Reverse description The field presents three historical Russian coins in detailed relief: at upper centre, the silver Rouble of Nicholas I; at lower left, the gold Imperial of Nicholas II; and at lower right, the Chervonets of the early Soviet era. Each coin is rendered with fine numismatic detail, faithfully reproducing the designs of the originals. A continuous Cyrillic legend arcs along the full circumference of the rim: ИСТОРИЯ ДЕНЕЖНОГО ОБРАЩЕНИЯ РОССИИ (THE HISTORY OF RUSSIAN CURRENCY), framing the composition.
