Belarus launched its zodiac bullion series in the mid-2000s as part of a broader effort to develop a collectible coin market practically from scratch — the National Bank had only existed since 1990. The Taurus issue belongs to the second full rotation of the series, struck in relatively modest quantities for a regional audience with limited secondary market infrastructure. Survival rates in gem condition are high; these were sold directly to collectors and rarely handled carelessly.
