Comments

In the final years of Soviet rule, many state enterprises issued internal scrip or share vouchers as a hedge against the collapsing ruble and the uncertainty of what ownership would mean after privatization. This voucher from the Riga Experimental Plant Energoavtomatika belongs to that chaotic transitional moment — roughly 1989–1991 — when Baltic factories were simultaneously Soviet state property and, in some practical sense, already preparing for independence.

Energoavtomatika specialized in automation and control systems equipment. Whether these vouchers ever translated into actual equity stakes in a successor company after Latvian independence is not well documented.
