Obverse description The obverse displays the crowned imperial arms of Brazil at center: a shield bearing a celestial sphere with the Southern Cross surrounded by a band of nineteen stars, all surmounted by the Imperial Crown of Brazil. The shield is flanked by two naturalistic branches — a coffee branch to the left and a tobacco branch to the right — tied together at the base with a decorative bow. The circular legend IMPERIO DO BRAZIL arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, while the date, flanked by a small five-pointed star on each side, appears in the lower field. The coin's rim is defined by a uniform beaded border.
