Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of Queen Isabella II facing right, her hair drawn up and arranged in an elaborate chignon with a feathered ornament, rendered in high relief with finely engraved strands. The portrait is youthful and idealized, occupying the central field. The encircling legend reads ISABEL 2ª POR LA GRACIA DE DIOS Y LA CONST, with the date 1854 displayed in the lower exergue flanked by two raised dots. A fine toothed border runs along the rim.
