Obverse description The upper portion carries the bank title 'THE UNION BANK OF SCOTLAND LIMITED' flanked by two denomination counters bearing '100', with a central vignette of two allegorical female figures flanking the royal arms, above the legend 'INCORPORATED BY ACT OF PARLIAMENT'. Two equestrian statues appear in vignettes at lower left and right, framing the handwritten promise-to-pay text set against an elaborate guilloche underprint. The serial number appears twice, with spaces for the General Manager and Cashier signatures at lower right.
